Congratulations to the Boys’ Tennis team on winning the 2026 AA State Championship! This is the boys fourth consecutive state championship and their eighth state championship overall (1993, 1999, 2013, 2014, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026).

In the individual competition, the doubles team of Jacob Salisbury and Nolan Beduhn won the 2026 AA State Championship. Ethan Turunen was the AA State Runner Up in the Singles bracket.
Rishi Ranjith and Jacob Salisbury were ninth-graders at Wayzata High School in 2023 when they helped the Boys Tennis program capture its fifth team championship and first since 2014. Nolan Beduhn was in eighth grade.
It’s now 2026 and the Trojans are still on a winning streak with Ranjith, Salisbury and Beduhn still major contributors.
Beduhn rallied for a 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory over ninth-grader Richard Hou at No. 3 Singles, sophomore Ethan Turunen came back to beat junior Santiago Sanchez 6-7 (3), 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 1 Singles spot and top-seeded Wayzata clinched its fourth consecutive Class AA state championship with a 4-3 win over No. 2 Edina on Wednesday, June 3 at the University of Minnesota’s Baseline Tennis Center.
Ranjith earned a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4 Singles while Salisbury teamed up with ninth-grader Thomas Prondzinski at No. 1 Doubles and won 6-1, 6-4.
“The bars are set really high for each and every player on the team,” Salisbury told the Lake Conference Network. “We’ve been in the state final the past three years and won it, so knowing that going into the season, we have an expectation to hold, it’s a little bit nerve-wracking, but it’s also good for us because we know we can compete at this level and compete with the best kids in state.”
The Lake Conference foes met on April 29, a regular-season match won by the Trojans 5-2. This was also a rematch of last year’s state final, won 6-1 by Wayzata.
Edina got victories from ninth-grader Joshua Latour (No. 2 Singles), senior Thomas Loucks and sophomore Hashim Chaudhri (No. 2 Doubles) and ninth-grader Jonathan Fan and seventh-grader Brady Tai (No. 3 Doubles).
Third Place: Rochester Mayo reversed last year’s result in this match against Mounds View with a 4-3 victory.
Consolation: Another Lake Conference representative, Eden Prairie earned a 6-1 win over Becker.
